Product photography: what should you send the studio beforehand?
A concrete brief about products, backgrounds and framing helps you find a suitable workspace.

A jewellery collection needs a different setup from a furniture range. Give the studio your product dimensions and quantities before choosing a space. The owner can then assess whether the set, access and worktables fit.
Make a product overview
List the largest product, the number of variations and the images needed per item. Mention fragile, reflective or transparent materials. Explain whether products need assembly, steaming or cleaning before they go in front of the camera.
Describe the background and setup
Send examples of the background, camera angle and shadows you want. Ask about backdrop rolls, a product table, grip and space to prepare products out of frame. Agree who provides styling, props, photography and assistance; renting a room does not automatically include those services.
Agree on image specifications
Tell your photographer where the images will be used: your webshop, advertising or print. Agree on crops, file formats, retouching and file names. Make a test image and assess it against the intended background before photographing the full series.
