Recording a podcast with several guests
Check seats, microphones and speaking turns before everyone sits down at the table.

A podcast with several guests needs more than a larger table. Each person needs a suitable microphone position, and someone needs to manage speaking turns. Tell the studio the total number of speakers beforehand.
Request a setup for your group
Confirm how many microphones, headphones and recording channels are available. Ask whether voices are recorded on separate tracks and which files you will receive. For video, camera angles and sight lines matter too; check that every guest can be shown clearly.
Agree who leads the discussion
Assign one person to lead the conversation. Discuss how to invite answers and avoid everyone speaking at once. Record a short group test so guests can practise their seating position and distance from the microphone.
Discuss editing beforehand
A conversation with many speakers can require more selection work. Specify whether you want a full episode, short clips or both. Agree who selects material and who checks names and statements. Allow extra time for arrivals, setup and file transfer.
